I'm Arnaud Broes, and I make StiqNote in Belgium, under my company, Broes Consulting BV. I'm a product manager by trade, and most of my work happens on websites and web products, with designers, developers and the people they build for.

Why I built it

Every website project has the same moment: the review. Screenshots pasted into Slack, an email about "the button at the top", and a developer asking which button. The feedback is there, but nobody can find it on the page it's about.

Reviewing a website with other people is still strangely hard, and the tools for it tend to be clunky: dashboards to learn, and a price for every seat.

I wanted something in between: point at the thing on the page, write the note, and have the whole team see it in the same spot. Simple enough that a client uses it without a manual. Precise enough that a developer can fix the bug without asking five questions first.

What I care about

  • Plain and quick. A comment should take seconds. StiqNote stays out of the way on sites you don't review.
  • Fair pricing. You pay for your team, not for your clients. Guests are free and unlimited on every plan, and there's a free plan that stays free.
  • Honest about what it isn't. StiqNote isn't a project management tool, and it doesn't review PDFs or mobile apps. The comparisons say where other tools are better.
  • Careful with data. Replays never record what people type. There are no ads or trackers in StiqNote, and data is stored in Western Europe. The privacy policy lists every service involved.

How it's built

StiqNote is a Chrome extension with a small backend on Cloudflare. Comments, teams and review rounds live in a database in Western Europe; files are stored on Cloudflare too. Payments go through Stripe, and email through Brevo, in France.

Being small has upsides. When you email support, you reach the person who wrote the code. Bug reports and ideas reach me directly, and I read every one.
