Move a site to another domain

Updated 27 October 2026

When staging goes live on its real domain, or a site changes address, you don't need to start the review over. Move the site, and its comments, guests and review rounds come with it.

#Move it

  1. Open the sidebar and go to Pages.
  2. Find the site, open its ⋯ menu, and choose Edit domain….
  3. From is filled in. Type the new address in To (just the domain, like example.com).
  4. StiqNote checks the new address and shows what will happen: how many pages and comments move, whether the new site already has pages that match (their threads are put together), how many guests will see the new site instead, and which review rounds follow.
  5. Click Move N comments.

Every page keeps its path: /pricing stays /pricing on the new domain. Comment ids never change.

#What moves with it

  • Pages and comments. A page that only existed on the old site gets the new address. A page that exists on both (same path) keeps the new site's page and gets the old one's comments, so nothing is duplicated.
  • Guests. Everyone who could see the old site can see the new one instead.
  • Review rounds (Agency). The site's rounds move with their pages and answers, numbered after the new site's own rounds; an open round stays open.

Pins find their elements again on the new site. If an element changed, the pin shows its usual Reposition line, same as any other page.

#One page that moved

Sometimes it's one page, not the whole site: a WordPress draft at example.com/?p=123 is published at its permalink, and the old address now redirects there. When you open the old address from StiqNote (the Pages tab, the Inbox, a notification or an email link) and land on the new one, a small This page moved note appears next to the toolbar. Click Move comments here and the page's comments, replies, screenshots and statuses follow; linked issues keep working. Undo in the message after it puts them back. Not now hides the note for that pair of addresses.

It only shows when the new page loaded normally on the same site (not an error page, a login page or the home page standing in for a deleted post), and only to owners and members.

#Transfer a site to another project

A site ended up in the wrong project, or a client gets a project of their own. Move it there; its address stays the same.

  1. In Pages, open the site's ⋯ menu and choose Transfer to another project….
  2. Pick the project in To. You see how many pages and comments move.
  3. Guests who see the site here lose it here. Keep the box ticked to give them this site in the new project (only this site, not the whole project).
  4. Click Transfer N comments. The message after it has Open to go to that project.

Replies, screenshots, guest links and review rounds go along, and so does the install script's key. If the other project already has a page at the same address, the comments are put together on that page.

#Good to know

  • Only owners and members can move a site; guests don't see the option.
  • There's no undo. Check the summary before clicking Move.
  • A site can have one address at a time. Moving it doesn't keep the old address working.

#Questions

What if I typed the wrong address?

Check the summary carefully before confirming. If you've already moved a site to the wrong place, move it again to the right one; nothing is deleted, it just goes to a different address.

Does this work between any two domains?

Yes. It's most often staging to a live domain, but any domain to any other domain works the same way.
