Console logs, network logs and session replay
On Pro and Agency, every new comment brings the page's recent console messages, its network requests and a replay of the last 3 minutes. There's nothing to set up.
#What's captured
- Console: errors, warnings and messages from the last 5 minutes, with how often each happened. A report keeps up to 50, errors first, and shortens very long messages.
- Network: requests that failed or took over 3 seconds: method, address, status and timing. Never request or response contents, and never headers.
- Replay: about the last 3 minutes of the page: clicks, scrolling, navigation and how the page changed.
- Device: browser, OS, viewport, screen, scale, zoom, language and touch.
Before anything is saved, tokens and keys in addresses, anything after #, and tokens, passwords and keys in console messages are replaced with "[redacted]".
#When you post
When you open the comment box, you'll see a Last 3 minutes replay chip. Remove it if you don't want to attach the replay to this report. Logs always go with a new report on Pro and Agency, unless you've turned them off in Settings.
Logs and replays go with new comments only, not with replies.
#Read a report
Open the thread. Next to the comment you'll see:
- Replay m:ss: click to watch. A timeline marks clicks, navigation, errors and failed requests.
- Console and Network: click to open the log.
- The device chip: click for the browser details.
Logs and replays are visible to your team's members and the person who posted the report. Guests never see other people's logs.
#Turn it off
In Settings → Bug reports and privacy:
- Attach console and network logs: on or off.
- Session replay: on every page, only on pages with comments, or off. It's on every page by default.
These settings are your own; they don't change anyone else's.
#Hide all page text in replays
If your pages show personal data, a team owner can turn on Hide all text in replays in Settings → Bug reports and privacy. Replays of the team's reports then show placeholders instead of text.
Typing is never recorded, whatever the settings. Every form field is masked, and password and card fields record nothing.
#When replay stops
On pages that change thousands of times a second, like a live dashboard, the recorder stops for the rest of that tab's session to keep the page fast. The comment form says so. Logs still work.
#How long they're kept
Replays are deleted after 30 days on Pro and 90 days on Agency. Logs stay with the comment until it's deleted.
