Invite clients and guests
Guests are people outside your team, usually clients. They're free and unlimited on every plan. They see only the sites you share with them, and never your private notes.
#Option 1: a guest link (no install)
This is the easiest way for clients.
- Open a page of the site you want reviewed.
- Open the sidebar, click Share, then Guests.
- Under Links, click Create link, then Copy link. It works for 30 days.
- To change that, open the link's Link options and choose Works for 7 more days, Works for 30 more days or No end date.
- Send it to your client by email, chat or however you like.
Your client opens the link in any browser, confirms their email with a 6-digit code, and clicks on the page to comment. Nothing to install, no password. Clients who already have the StiqNote extension use the same link: it opens the real page in StiqNote for them.
What the no-install view can't do
The link opens your site through a StiqNote review address. It shows public pages only, doesn't send forms, and switches off password fields, so signing in doesn't work there. For a site behind a login, clients add the extension and open the same link: it takes them to the real site, where they sign in as usual. A site on localhost, one with strong bot protection (Cloudflare, Akamai) or one that checks its own domain in the browser can refuse to load there; for those, clients who add the extension still get through on the same link, or you can install StiqNote on the site itself.
#Option 2: invite by email
- In Share → Guests, under People, type their email in Invite a client by email.
- Pick the sites they can see.
- Click Invite.
#Which sites a guest sees
- A guest link gives access to that link's site. A second link adds its site.
- An email invite gives the sites you picked.
- To change them later, open Share → Guests, find them under People, and change their sites.
Making a guest a member gives them every site.
#Manage links
Each link has Link options:
- Works for 7 more days, Works for 30 more days or No end date;
- Turn off: stops new people from joining. Guests who already joined stay on the team until you remove them in Settings → Team and plan.
#What guests can do
Guests can comment and reply, and edit or delete their own comments. They can't see private notes, invite people, make links or see where threads were sent. Members can make guest links; guests can't.
#Want this on your own site?
Guests see a small "Made with StiqNote" note. On the Agency plan you can turn it off and show your own brand instead. See branding.
